In Holland by the ministry of agriculture was announced a law that would be put in operation in September, as part of the new policy by which the government would decrease the concentration of raw protein in dairy cow rations, with the aim to lower the nitrogen exhaust by dairy farms and by which dairy farms would not be allowed to have pure soya and pure rape seed available on their farm. After broad protests, from dairy farmers, veterinarians, feed consultants and others the Dutch minister of agriculture has withdrawn the measure. According to her: because of the drought there is less grass available for cows so cows need more concentrate feed, including more protein.
