In Finland the average milk production of recorded cows in 2020 exceeded first time the limit of 10 000 kg milk/cow/year. In 2020 it was 10 168 kg milk/cow/year and 10 771 kg ECM/cow year. (ECM: energy-corrected milk, taking into account the fat and protein content.) The average herd size of recorded herds exceeded first time the limit of 50 cows and was 50.5 cows/herd. A number of 204792 cows which was 80.1 percent of the national dairy cow herd was recorded. The average lifetime production of culled cows exceeded first time the limit of 30 000 kilograms and in 2020 it was 30 612 kg milk/cow/lifetime.
