In Germany milk from dairy cows that graze for a minimum of 120 days per year at least six hours a day is going to be rated lower in the renewed welfare rating system and is placed in the same group as milk from cows in freestall barns with a year-round available outdoor area without entrance to pasture. In order to get a higher rating, cows grazing in the summer must have a year-round available outdoor area also.
