The Denmark headquartered dairy cooperative Arla has unveiled a new five-year strategy to flesh out its sustainable dairy production and to grow its business responsibly. In the next five years, Arla will increase its investments by more than 40 percent to more than four billion (10*9) euro and will focus on sustainability, digitalization, new production technologies and product development. Also Arla will reduce the proportion of the profits retained in the business for investment to instead return more to member farmers. This means a guaranteed supplementary payment of 1.5 eurocent per kilogram milk provided an annual net profit of at least 2.8 percent and a retainment reduced from 1.5 eurocent per kilogram milk to a maximum of 1.0 eurocent per kilogram milk.
