In Holland starting in 2023 all cattle farmers will be forced by law to eradicate of Bovine Virus Diarrhoea (BVD) and IBR (Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis). Dairy farmers are already since 2018 working on eradicating BVD and IBR. Of the dairy farms 96.5 percent is free of or unsuspected of BVD and 80 percent is free of IBR. In 2024 veal farms will only be allowed to fill up with BVD-free calves.
