Finland: dairy consumption – 2021/2020

In Finland in 2021 average consumption of liquid dairy products was 142 kilogram. An average of 96 litres of milk was consumed per person, two litres or 1.5 percent less than in 2020. Of this 57 litres was skimmed milk. The consumption of whole milk decreased by nearly three per cent, and that of skimmed milk and low-fat milk by two per cent combined. The consumption of buttermilk, yogurt and soured whole milk, which are classified as liquid products, decreased slightly, on the other hand, the consumption of cream, fermented cream products and other fresh products increased slightly. Cheese consumption increased slightly from the previous year, being around 25.5 kilogram. Butter was used slightly less than the previous year, 3.1 kilogram per person.
