In Finland in 2019 a number of 2307 dairy farms (59 percent of the Finnish dairy cow barns) had a tie stall barn. In this type of barns 68518 cows or 36 percent of the Finnish dairy cows was housed. Those farms had average 29.7 dairy cows. A number of 1636 dairy farms (41 percent of the Finnish dairy cow barns) had a free stall barn. Together they housed 192308 cows which was 64 percent of the Finnish dairy cow herd. Average they had 75.7 dairy cows.
