Belgium: study on calfs/pneumonia

In Belgium, a study of the university of Gent shows that on dairy farms calves average have a 49 percent chance to get pneumonia. Of the calves average 20 percent gets subclinical pneumonia, without showing visible symptoms. Calves that get pneumonia average loose eight kilogram weight, have three to eight time more chance to die, and produce in the first two lactations four to eight percent less milk.
